Top 10 reasons Nokia Lumia 800 is still best selling Windows Phone

The Nokia Lumia 800 was the first Windows Phone to be launched by Nokia and to may it’s still their favourite. While we wait for the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 WindowsPhone 8 devices to launch, it’s time to look back at what makes the Nokia Lumia 800 truly a classic.

Classic design

The Nokia Lumia 800 offers a classic design that even the lawyers over at Apple recently admitted was unique and unlike anything out there. The 3.7-inch screen is made from curved glass so images pop from the screen and the minimalist design make sit a pleasure to hold and to use. On top of all this is the now legendary Nokia build quality, which assures you this phone won’t give up when lesser Android devices would!

Windows Phone 7.8 update

We know the Nokia Lumia 800 won’t be getting the Windows Phone 8 update but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to enjoy using this amazing everyday smartphone. The Windows Phone 7.8 update will bring with it a host of new features, including the new Start screen with wider display options and more varied tiles.

Continued support

Nokia will also continue to support its older devices with a bunch of new features now and more to come. Look at this way, just because a new version of your car has come out doesn’t make your current one obsolete does it, it still does what you bought it to do! That’s the way you need to look at the Nokia Lumia 800 and for that reason you’ll now find it at a bargain price.

Bargain price

Did someone say Nokia Lumia 800 at a bargain price? This has to be the Number One reason why if you’ve not already discovered the joy of a Nokia Lumia 800 you should seriously be thinking about it now.
Nokia has gone aggressive with the pricing on the Nokia Lumia 800 and you can pick it up from as little as £149 (inc. VAT) from Asda. It looks like stocks of this are low at present, so you may need to act fast or try Amazon who is selling the Nokia Lumia 800 for £199 (inc. VAT).

Nokia Drive

Nokia Drive takes your Nokia Lumia smartphone’s navigation skills on the road, with 2D and 3D mapping accompanied by voice-guided directions, Nokia Drive is the best in-car smartphone navigation tool around. What’s more, it’s the only smartphone mapping solution that offers real offline mapping to save you money, while the turn-by-turn navigation is free for the life of your phone. Now, tell us other mapping services out there offer you something similar?

Nokia Mix Radio

There are music players and then there is Nokia Mix Radio., which allows you to make the most of unlimited music on your Lumia 800. The beauty of Nokia Mix Radio is that the playlists are created by real people, not by some cranky algorithm, so you’ll find a wealth of knowledge and passion whether you love the classics, rock, or even just fancy checking out the latest chart hits!

Social Networking

Twitter, Facebook, and even LinkedIn are all front and center with the Nokia Lumia 800 and can all be added to your People hub so you don’t even need to miss a message or tweet ever again. Sure, you can add separate feeds but why would you need to when you can get everything that’s happening in your social world in one fell swoop?

Xbox Live

if it’s not social networking then its games that we love on our Nokia Lumia 800. Xbox Live has the fastest growing array of games out there and with weekly updates you can easily have the latest games as soon as they launch. What’s more you can stay connected with your gaming friends via Xbox LIVE, and even allows you to update and check your Xbox 360 avatar.

Live Tiles

Live Tiles are an often over-looked and under utilised feature of Windows Phone but we really like them. They allow you to bring a fully personalized feeling to your Nokia Lumia 800. The most common usage for Live Tiles is to add apps and games to your Nokia Lumia 800 Start screen but you can add pretty much anything, from websites, maps and even your most commonly contacted friends. The beauty is, if there is a status update you’ll find this reflected on the Live Tile, so you don’t need to go digging around to see if things have changed!

Nokia Lumia 800 camera

We’re not going to tell you that the 8-Megapixel camera on the Nokia Lumia 800 competes with the likes of PureView on the Nokia 808 but since we’ve installed Nokia Camera Extras, we’ve found that we’ve started using it even more. The main feature that has caught our imagination is the Panorama app, which has to be the easiest out there to use, as it offers up such simple but stunning results.
Right, that’s our top 10 reasons to adore the Nokia Lumia 800, so it’s over to you, why do you think it’s such a great smartphone? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below
